Waiter's Style Wine Openers are Easier to Use Than Ever
"Waiter's Corkscrew" is the common name for the "Pocket Knife" style of corkscrew wine opener. In general a Waiter's Cork Screw has a blade to cut the foil on the top of the bottle, a worm or spiral to twist into the cork, and a lever fulcrum to place on the lip of the bottle, and "lever" the cork out.
By the way, if you have had trouble with this type of Corkscrew, here is the secret. Don't put the point of the spiral in the center of the cork. Look at the spiral from the point end, and you'll see that the center is empty--the point is off to one side. Place the point on the cork so that the entire spiral is centered in the cork!
